Hi,

I have windows XP home edition in my compaq presario SN1050NX PC.

For the past one week, my system is not responding to some applications when I try to shutdown my PC. The only way I can reboot the PC is by manually switching off and on the PC.

After the machine is up, I checked the event viewer and found the following errors.

============================================================Hanging application YPager.exe, version 6.0.0.1710, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at

Hanging application IEXPLORE.EXE, version 6.0.2800.1106, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2800.1221, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

I found YPager.exe only once but explorer and internet explorer seem to have this problem more often.

I searched the internet for this error and found that there were lot of discussions on this topic, but with out any resolution.

Does any one have an idea on how to resolve this?. If I don't have an option, I am planning to re-install windows XP over the weekend.

I checked the RAM with memtest. It ran for a whole night resulting in 0 errors. But I have stopped the ram check in the morning.

Thanks,
Balaji.

My suggestion is to run ad-aware and then spybot. Should help clean you up....

Hi,

I run both Ad-aware and spybot very often. Moreover, YPager.exe is nothing but the yahoo messenger.

However, I am not able to update the spybot definition updates. I am getting a "bad checksum" error when I try to download the spybot updates.

Thanks,
Balaji.

Hi Bcastner,

I have already installed the 'User Profile Hive Cleanup Service' in my PC and I am still having this problem.

Thanks,
Balaji.

Thanks for the Info. I will try this and post the results once I am home.
