application error

I have been getting this application error frequently lately whenever i try to start some games. It happened when i installed state of emergency and happened most recently when i installed rayman 3. It says "application
error. the instruction at "0x00472452" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Check for any updated XP patches at the manufacturer's site.


To get further information about the error look in your Event viewer.

Look in the System or Application folder. You can get to the Event Viewer via right click My Computer icon and select Manage.

Any errors logged in the Event Viewer can be expanded by double clicking on the error line.

Take any event error I.D. number and search for it on these sites.

Got any virus scanners active during install?

baltman i had mcafee virus scan professional edition running during all installations. could that have caused a problem?

I believe it has been known to happen.

If you try to re-install does the problem occur? If you then disable McAfee first?
