Hell everyone.

I have an App. that will not open. It runs from an .exe file. I click on the .exe and it justs sits there. I tried to set the app. in Compatibility Mode. I tried them all no change. No error message noting. Now I loaded it on an XP box and it opened with no problems. Anything in Local Policies that need to be started? I know 2003 locks down a lot by default.

Thanks for any help. spool

Update: First I forgot to put the o in hello.

I put this app. on another 2003 server and it opens. This app. needs to open on this server.

Any suggestions. Thanks. spool

Hello my 853,000 helpful buddies,

This app. opens in 98,98se, ME, 2000,XP 2000 Server and one of my 2003 Servers. It will not open in this 2003 Server.(All other .exe files open) It is just a small .exe file that I need to run from this Server. It runs in conjunction with other CD burning apps. And they are working fine with the CD/DVD burner. I checked Local Polices and Group Polices and found noting that I can see needs to be set. ???? I also checked the registry and the value("%1" %*) for opening .exe's is correct.

When I click on the file it does a short flash. Noting else. There must be a setting that's keeping this one .exe file from opening.

Help, thanks again, spool

Hello again all,

Update:

I don't think anyone would have got this one.

OK I got it to open. The name of the App. is Alcoholer. First when I download Alcoholer it is in compressed form. .rar You need to use the WinRar decompression program to unpack it. I didn't mention all this in my first posts. I thought .exe's are all the same. (I'm not a program).

But that's not enough. In 2003 Server for some reason you need another decompression program called UPX. You can find it here. It runs from the command prompt. C:\upx -d alcoholer.exe>enter VOILÀ! a working alcoholer.exe

Thanks all, spool
