My SmartUPS 1000 is flashing its led's with a red light for the battery. I replaced the battery and the red light is now off but not the flashing led's.

APC's website is pretty detailed but I get the gist that the battery needs to fully charge? APC recommends to do a callibration but this process discharges the battery and recharges it.

Anyone have any experience with this? Bill

I follwed APC's recommendation of replacing the battery and doing a calibration only to come back to the same flashing LEDs. I then reduced the load to the mid 60% range and the flashing LEDs stopped but the runtime was a disappointing 5 mins. I then reduced the load even more to the low 40% and the runtime climbed to a respectable 15 mins.

So the rule here is to reduce the load to one the unit can handle. The other new UPS units we have can go to a much higher load limit. Bill
