The APC 5000VA has a maximum rated output of 3750 Watts. Is that the number I multiply the LOADPCNT value from the apcaccess utility by to get real power use?

The apcaccess utility also gives transient hi and lo voltage values. What constitutes as transient as opposed to normal hi and lo voltage values which are also listed?

Tnx.

Guess I'll have to answer my own questions.

There is an assumed power factor, the cosine of the phase angle between the line voltage and current, on UPSs. In the case of the APC 5000 it's about .75 giving a rated power output of 3750 Watts. As far as I know, you multiply the LOADPCNT from the apcaccess utility by this number.

There seems to be no consensus as to what constitutes a trasnsient. Anything up to a second or maybe a bit longer can be a transient. Seems to depend on which EE you ask. Measured hi and lo volatages are longer sample periods. Transients can be caused be arcs, relays, lightning, switches, motors, etc. Lightning usually consists of several sequential strikes lasting from microeconds to upwards of a half second or more and, depending on who you ask that day, can be one or several transients.
