Our APAC Core is based in Sydney, Australia with a gateway in Singapore and one in Auckland, NZ.

I am trying to get my head around the best way to configure locations' time-zones and daylight savings..

For example..

NZ is +2hours of Sydney so this is set in the locations form. Last weekend NZ went into summer time so I had a rule that changed this. This weekend Sydney also entered summer time so the NZ DST rule set it to go back to the normal +2 hours. This is all well and good.

The problem comes that Singapore never changes time and so now has gone from being -2hours from Sydney to -3hours. I have now had to manually change this in the locations, but i will also have to go and change all vdn's in Singapore. Do I have to keep moving them back and forth from -2 to -3 hours every 6months?

Does anyone else have a similar set up and can offer advise on the best way to manage?

P.s. sorry for the long winded explanation!!

Do you have the Singapore gateway in a separate location.

on the change locations form set singapore location to rule 0 (this is no daylight saving) and means the time will never change.

You could always create a rule just for singapore and set this on the locations form.

Hi.

yes singapore is a seperate location with daylight savings rule 0. But because the system time is Sydney time it still changes with the system.

i think i have got my head around it now though.

I have set Singapore location to -3hours with a DST rule that increases 1hour when the system time will go back. sort of the reverse of Summer time rules.

thanks for your help.
