Hi All when backup exec 10d tries to backup our main server with the AOFO plugin it comes back with this following error messages "Backup- HAL-9000AOFO: Initialization failure on:
"C:". Advanced Open File Option used: Symantec Volume Snapshot Provider (VSP).
AOFO: Unable to get minimum quiet time for physical volumes. Reduce the activity on these volumes, or wait and run the backup when there is less activity on the volumes."

This server is the company domain controller and Exchange server.

Does anyone have an ideas how to resolve this issue as im starting to panic that the backups are not working.

Cheers

got into tools - wizzard - open file option wizard and connect to hal9000 and change min quite time to 3 seconds.

cheers for that I have just done your suggestions and will see what happens on Monday morning

Hi I have dropped the min quiet time down to 2 seconds and it still states that it cannot get enough quiet time to prform the operation. Is there any way of monitoring what is creating all of the disk activity?

Perfmon. Sound like you have antivirus scanning or some database application that may be doing maintinence on the server. At this point the issue is not backkup exec and you cant lower that setting below 2. Try editing the job and moving the resource order around. Maybe put that server to first or last server to backup or move the time of the backup.
