I'm looking at imaging / ghosting solutions for my 250+ client site and I'm going back and forth from symantec.. I've heard a few good things about Acronis and I was wondering if anyone uses this as their imaging system...

any info would be greatly appreciated.

so is snap deploy a client imaging system? .. and you can use universal restore to move the same image to multi hardware types...

or is the Enterprise version all inclusive backup/restore/imaging for servers/clients...

we use backup exec for our servers and I dont think we are planning on changing it...

I'm investigating symantec ghost solution suite as well... but I was confused with what acronis packages I would need to look at for client imaging/deploy routines.

If it is just imaging, you can use Snap Deploy.
If it is imaging for a broad range of hardware types, use Snap Deploy + Universal Restore
If it is Imaging + Backup look to a one of the Acronis server products.

Acronis True Image 9 is a sensational program. I've been using True Image for a number of years.

Before TI, I used Drive Image, which Symantec bought out, and used it to replace Norton Ghost

Each new version of TI gets better and better. Here are some good reasons to use Acronis TI version 9.

1. They were the first to allow you to do your imaging right from Windows - no reboot into another OS.

2. You can image selected items, you don't have to do the whole partition.

3. You can store images on any USB drive, or internal drive. And, you can now burn images to DVD's

4. The interface is great, and the recovery CD allows you to boot up any machine to work at creating or restoring an image.

5. The program has really saved my butt on many occasions.

6. Their tech support is the best

7. And, a really important feature - YOU CAN AVOID USING A SYMANTEC PRODUCT. Years ago Symantec was a great company - these days they and their products are generally the pits. I won't buy or use anything that Symantec makes. Their support is miserable, and many of their products can cause all kinds of fringe tech problems.

I honestly have not liked a product this much since some early Nero releases.

And I have used, and use, Ghost and Drive Image. Give me True Image any day of the week.

i'm completely agree with Bocaire. true image is the best.
