Although SQL Server technically runs on Windows 98 you don't get the full features you would with the Standard edition on Windows NT. I once tried SQL Server on 98 and I had mega problems with it. Once I switched over to NT, it worked like a charm. In my opinion Windows 98 and SQL Server don't seem to get along very well.
