I want a product to help me with the following.

formatted textboxes
comboboxes multi-column and sorted
dataviews that can be used with comboboxes and lookups

Has anyone used the $495 version of the above?

Can i use infragistics suite and sell my final product without licenses issues?

In general what is your opinion about the infragistics suite and should i look at other products?

Thanks in advance.

the infragistics suite is well worth it.

there's no licensing issues on the suite we bought (2003 Vol 3) - I can't speak for the one your considering but I would be very surprised if there was as most controls these days are bought on the presumption they can be used in apps that will be sold to any number of clients at no extra fee.

One of the big bonuses we found was the ability to have multiple column combo boxes. Actually it's more like a grid within the combo which can be programmed like the ultragrid.

As for formatting I think all their controls have a masked input method but not certain.

There is a bit of a learning curve but there are so many examples for different situations that if you're stuck for time, copy and paste is an option.

As for others , the Janus Suite seems to be quite popular so that might be worth a look.

I use infragistics and I think it is great!

I use UltraGrid a lot and it saves you a lot of work you had to do with MS data grid. It is a very big control, but very powerful.

I use also MaskedEdit, UltraTree, DropDownButton, UltraTabControl and more windows controls and web controls.

They write in their site that you pay only for the developer license, and you don't need to pay for clients.

I bought the 495$ suite which is without support, but I sent an email to their support department and they always answered very quickly. They have newsproups where their developers answer too.

You can download a trial version. If you have a question like "Where do I start?", I can post some examples.

We are using Infragistics and we stumbled into quite a few issues with it. But the good thing is that with a single fee you get a suite which has both winform and ASP .NET controls.

1. If you are planning for a project which has less than 250 rows or so in a grid then it is worth and performace is OK. But in our case each form usually have around 1000+ rows and each row with different colors depending on some logic. We were able to implement that with infragistics "UltraGrid" but the performance was so poor that we had to rewrite atleast 7 of our screens using datagrid which performance vice far better than ultragrid but the price you have to pay is, you have to implement most of the basic functionalities your own.

2. Initially (may be 2 years back) we used to get crashes every now and then and we were getting frustarted because every time we had to wait for patch from infragistics. (Now it seems to be much stable than before).

3. Learning curve for developers were far more than expected but as it says in the previous post they have quite a few examples in their site and fairly OK newgroup on their site.
