Hi..

The string pullers above me have seen the Blackberry device and think its the best thing since sliced bread!

Has anyone worked with this solution - installing the BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server) into their environment - just wondered if anyone had experienced any minor or major problems or can advise on things to look out for?

I've been working with BES since it came out ..I work for a company that develops software for wireless devices ..so were pretty much on the leading frontier with the BES nearly 2 years ago.

I've never had issues with it ... the install is DIRT simple - very easy to manage - once the server is installed - it almost takes care of itself.

What specifically were you thinking about? Alshrim

Not really researched into it yet but we will be providing this in January 2003 to some pilot users.

It was just that we had a presentation from a techy bloke selling the solution - and he did put it across as there would be no issues or problems...

Just wanted some feedback from existing users/administrators to see if this is true in the real world!!

Thanks for your post might be speaking to you soon if things take off...and go wrong!!

I'd be happy to help ..

If you haven't implemented the BlackBerry/BES solution yet, try GoodLink. Everyone in my company liked the GoodLink product much better than BlackBerry!! I've converted my 200 BlackBerry users to GoodLink and they are much happier. In regards to the server installation, it's about the same for both products. Check out

IS that right??! I'd heard about these other solutions popping up -- but never heard what the differences were..

Is it the service that you prefer - in your opinion .. or just the product itself.. is it more stable .. you know those kind of things...??

I'm not sure if we have another choice up here in Canada... I'll check out the site...

I'm not sure if the GoodLink solution works in Canada. It may only be available for the US. The GoodLink product will run on RIM 950 or RIM 957. In regards to why GoodLink is better: ZERO desktop software installation (yea!!!!), installation of handhelds is completed within a couple of minutes, completely 100% wireless (all synchronization is done over the air rather than having to use the cradle), zero synching issues, it has the ability to view attachments, it has the ability to browse items in subfolders, it has an easier user interface to use than BlackBerry....geez...I'm sure that there's a bunch more things that I'm not thinking of. From an IS standpoint, switching to GoodLink sure has made my life easier.

Canada!!!??

Well if I do get any probs will be flying out to see you - Canada is awesome - spent a month in Toronto last year catching as many hockey games as I could, in the NHL and all the lower league games...

What part you from? are you a ice hockey fan?

I'm in Ottawa -- the capital -- and yes .. Sens fan...

5-2 over the Bruins last night !! woohoo! Alshrim

Hossa is scoring well for the Sens at the mo!! - and I was expecting ya man Chara to drop his mits last night - given the fact that he is a unit!

A good win for sure especially because Bruins will be one of the teams in the Stanley Cup final.

One of my life's goals was to move out to Canada - is there an easy way to do this? any advice? are IT guys in need over there?

sorry to go on with non-related exchange stuff!!

Cheers
Steve
