Is there any software out there that can actually tell you the motherboard information...ETC, instead of opening up the Computer to look at the MotherBoard. Just hoping something came out, like that
The only way that I know how is to write down the BIOS information presented in the POST screen during startup (if this POST screen is behind a 'splash' screen hitting ESC or TAB might bring it up or turn it off on the BIOS. Then hit PAUSE/BREAK to stop the boot process - hit ENTER to continue).
Write the numbers down and go to the BIOS manufacturer's web site to hopefully find their lookup charts to find the exact motherboard. Your mileage may vary...
There is a program that will work. The drawback of the method above is that it could be an OEM board. In that case, you won't get accurate information. There's a small program called ctbios that will tell you what you need to know. It won't go right out & tell you exactly what board it is, but it will give you sufficient information to decifer the origin of the board. I think you can find that program somewhere through award bios' website. Good luck.
A program called sisoft sandra will give you reams of information on all aspects ie: chipset, ram, processor, graphics etc etc but as has been said, may not tell you the make if OEM. Martin Just trying to help, sometimes falling short, I am only human after all.
If you use Windows 98, you could try run > hwinfo /ui
This gives a lot of information concerning hardware and drivers, and may supply you with the details you want. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.
