Has anyone had any performance problems when installing multiple instances of SQL 2000 Enterprise on one server?

I want to have three seperate instances but I can't have much performance degredation. The server is dual 2.4 Xeons with 2 GB Ram (to be upped to 4 GB) and a SCSI RAID array.

Thanks!

Well, it depends on the current load with 1 instance. The general rule is that the more instances you have the more resources you will need. If it is important to run more than one instance make sure to have more memory at least. I would install more memory. Test the load and if not satisfied with it, then add more CPUs.

Of course, you're just adding another set of services and processes. You should always try to add databases instead of instances.
