guys here is the deal, I am heading out too a friends site where they made a BIG boo boo HAHA

on a windows 2000 SBS server they tried to install ez cd creator 5.0, which caused a BSOD, bad thing right??

well here is the worse news, not only do they not have backups, (they had just purchased their tape drive and veritas backups when he decided to do this, talk about murphys lay HAHA)BUT the server will not boot, we have put the system in recovery mode, and attempted to get it running by removing components of the registry, but its not working,

Any ideas?

Need a little more information here... Is there any raid system involved? mirrored or raid 5? or are the drives independant.

If the data is on a raid 5 and is important, you can try installing a hard drive (ide or scsi but preferably on a different bus) and loading windows server fresh on that new drive. Reset all permissions on the old data drive, install the tape software and grab a backup at this point. Trust me, i've done it, it works.

If the drives are independant of each other it's easier, pop the data drives into a 2000 or xp workstation (or another server) and try to access the data that way.

Good luck.
