Hello all,

I'm running SuSE 10.0 on my laptop, and I have clamAV installed on there. However, I'd like to get antivirus stuff a bit more friendly. On Windows I use NOD32 and if I could get something for Linux with the same functionality and ease of use, I would be a happy bunny.

In particular I would like antivirus software with a nice GUI and easy integration with my system; and, particularly, to be able to scan incoming (and preferably outgoing) email. I use Thunderbird as my email program.

Various people have commented that I actually don't need antivirus scanning in the way I do in Windows; this doesn't satisfy me. Suffice to say that I want it anyway. ;-)

I have tried KlamAV but found it unsatisfactory---it had a nasty tendency to crash and it couldn't put in place automatic email scanning for Thunderbird.

Others have suggested p3scan but I was put off by the idea that I would have to put in place a whole load of configurations sending stuff to new ports, and having to change the details in the email software as a result.

... So, can anyone suggest an alternative? I'm tempted to try NOD32 for Linux, but I'm not sure which version to choose (there are several: for Linux file server, for Linux mail server ...). If anyone has any experience, comments would be welcome. But if anyone can suggest an alternative, I'd be just as happy. :-)

Many thanks,

-- Joe
