I cannot print to an HP Laserjet 4050 T from my NT workstation. When I print a test page, it briefly appears in the print queue and then disappears but nothing is physically printed.

Looking at the printer properties (port settings), it is set to print to an IP address - 137.223.38.126 (I can ping this address). This printer is on the network, but I'm not sure whether it is configured on a print server or whether any print just get sent to the printer directly.

The driver used is HP 4050 PCL driver.

I can print to the printer from a Windows 2000 workstation. The only difference on the Windows 2000 workstation is thet the driver is PS and not PCL.

I have tried changing the print driver on the NT pc to PS, but still no luck.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks.

Have you tried simply deleting the printer and reinstalling it? Lets stick with the pcl driver for now, usually less buggy, but it really shouldn't matter.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

I would check the print queue and make sure you are looking at the same thing. Verify the properties of your printer that you set it up as a network and not local printer. This may have occurred when you switched the printer from one system to the IP address setup.

Thanks for your help guys. A combination of both your suggestions pointed me in the right direction to fix the problem.

I deleted the printer and added it again and during the setup when adding the new port I set the print queue name to 'raw' as it is an HP printer.

This seems to have worked.
