Another option for DELETE?

Instead of deleting a row of data from a database I would prefer they click a button and it change it over to a new table with in the same database..

The only way I can think to do this would be to create a CFUPDATE and update it to the new table then go back and delete it from the old.. which really is just a big circle I would like to avoid. Can you combine a cfupdate and delete within the same template?
