Now that I have decided to get a new modem, what's the deal with V92?

How long will it be before V92 becomes available from internet suppliers?

This sounds like a real improvement if what I have heard is true.

Should I make sure that my new modem is V92 compatible?

you'll find that most modems these days will be V.92 compliant.

It does not speed up access as such, this still remains at 56Kbps, but it does enhance other things, such as a slightly faster upload rate, and a quicker connect time.

Most ISP's probably already support it, best thing to do is simply ask your ISP. Probably a good thing to get it anyway, because even if your ISp doesn't, for the moment, it probably will in the future.

I do the best I can with the info that I have.
If it works, let me know.
If it don't, ditto!

If your in the market to buy a new modem make sure the manufacturers are going to offer the flash support V.92 for the hardware.
There are some V.92's already on sale but most will have to have a download upgrade for this enhancement
