I am new to Flash and am confused by what the output is doing. I started by creating two separate letters (as separate symbols on separate layers) and animated them individually. Ultimately, the two letters came together, at which point I "grouped" them and animated them together. I also have another layer with more text moving around. Well, in the Flash window, the animation looks great, but when I export the movie, the individual letters remain static until the group begins to move at which point the animation works normally. I guess I'm a little confused about animating groups and symbols on different layers. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, you dont realy need to do all that for animating text.
Its realy quiet simple:

1) Write the text you want to appear in the first frame.
2) Make that a Key Frame.
3) Move the text how you want it in the second frame.
4) Once positioned how you want it, make that into a Key Frame.
5) Repeat proccess until animation is complete.
6) Rewind and Play animation to see if it is how you want it.
7) File>Publish>Flash and your done!
