Is there anyway to make an EXE from an Access Application? We hate the idea of migrating to Visual Fox Pro and we don't want to recode thousands (ok, hundreds) of lines to Visual Basic 6.0 not to mention about a hundred reports. Any idea? And also, is it true that Access 2000 can make all the applications in Web pages? We're trying to make an Intranet and this would help a lot!

Hi,

making an exe is impossible indeed, but in acc. 2000 it is possible to make app's in web pages.

I believe there is a developer version of Access that allows you to make EXE's. I have only ever used the MDE to distribute Access Apps myself. It would probably to be easier to port your Access application to VB6, you could still use your access created data but you would have to modify your recordset code some what. You would end up with a distibutable install program and EXE.

Secondly VFP is not bad... after you have used it for a while you get very spoiled by its powerful performance, but programming in it is nothing at all like VB and conversion to VFP would be a significant project. VFP6 lacks the intuitive IDE of VB6 and built in security functions of Access, but as far as pure speed and size of data, you simply can't match it without going to high end server software like oracle or whatever.
