I'm trying to get an AMR modem to work with my GigaByte GA-7DXR motherboard. So far, I've tried two different cards, Epox EP-S56MR and Archtek/Smartlink 56MRC. The Epox is a jumperless design, while the Archtek has jumpers to select the primary and secondary modes. The Epox is not seen by W98SE and the Archtek is recognized, but does not function after being installed. I have no configurable jumpers on the motherboard that I can alter for the AMR slot.

So, did you check the BIOS settings on the MAINBOAD to see if the AMR functionality is ENABLED ?

Yes,-in the BIOS - The "AC97 Modem" has been enabled from the start. The motherboard "On Board Sound Chip" is disabled as is the "AC97 Audio". A PCI sound card will be installed eventually.

All that's installed in this system is: W98SE, an AGP video card & drivers, motherboard chipset drivers, on board raid drivers, and a CDRW drive with no software. There are, as yet, no PCI cards.

The Archtek card is only seen by W98SE if the card's jumpers are set to secondary mode.

This is my first experience with AMR, so I'm sure I must be missing something.
