Help,

I seem to be getting some strange messages whenver running certain Novell utilities like Filer.exe and Pconsole.exe. Each of these programs recently started generating similar errors when executed.

"FILER-4.25 (970311) PTF-999: The message file (filer.msg) for this utility cannot be found."

"PCONSOLE-4.15998: The message file (filer.msg) for this utility cannot be found."

Can anyone tell me if I can replace these files or something about how they are generated. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Rudy

p.s. I did try to create a file with the name filer.msg and pconsol.msg but it's apparent that these programs are looking for specific data in the msg file becaus ethe error indicated a different format then expected.

To explain further, you must have a search drive mapped to SYS:pUBLIC - usually this is mapped as Z:

-----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"
-----------------------------------------------------

Gentlemen,

I typed MAP from the DOS prompt and I see the following:

S1: - V:. {HNTS_FS2_SYS: \public]
S2: - Z:. {HNTS_FS2_SYS:public \]
S3: - Y:. {HNTS_FS2_SYS:system \]
S4: - X:. {HNTS_FS2_SYS:eek:s\v4.10]
S5: - W:. {HNTS_FS2_SYS:util \]
S6: - C:\Windows
S7: - C:\Windows\command
S8: - C:\Novell\Client32
S9: - C:\Util

However, I cannot locate the files the programs are looking for. Any other suggestions?

Rudy

If I'm not mistaken, the files you are looking for should be located in sys:public\NLS\4.

Having a map to SYS:pUBLIC is generally sufficient and the utilities know to look in the NLS\4 directory. (4=english)
