How do I setup MsDos to "keep the damn text" from running off the right hand side of the screen....so it's all contained in the frame....and it "wraps' to the screen

I know it has to do with a "columns" setting aand I've even managed to add a key in the Reg here
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\Shell\BinaryView\command

for "Binary View", so i can right click "ANY" non-text file, choose "binary view" from the pop-up context menu and see all file info....and some strange dos characters as well...

the "default" value in the command sub-folder is set to
Default=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\Edit.com /72 /h "%1"
in the right pane.....and this works fine

and I know that 72 keeps it "wrapped" (ala 72 columns)
an /r command would make it read only...etc

I would like "Every" Dos window to "look" like this...
whether booting into True DOS, or opening a DOS prompt Box.

I've tried adding /72 to the "Command" line box
(C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND /72 )
in my MSDOS PromptBox properties/programs to no avail....

A little help please?
Thanks All

Hi

The binary viewer won't get your command prompt to open at 72 columns (obviously), but it will stop the need to use DOS edit to view binary files. At last, you will be able to use long filenames...

Anyway re the command prompt issue, it will have an 80 character width at whatever fixed pitch font is used, as part of the emulation of old screens, provided that the window width is as wide as needed to not have the horizontal scroll bar.

My first post contained this typo
(C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND /72 )
It should read
(C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM /72 )

This has to do with the other thread? concerning
Win95 and Win2k networking...right?
and/or does this mean that win2k emulation "will" do what i'm looking for in win98 DOS window...(by using the 80 character width)

Anyway, I know i've seen how to wrap the DOS window somewhere..I'll find it
Thanx for your help
