I have a AMD Athlon XP 1800 Alienware computer, that I would like to overclock. How do I know if I can even do it? What temps do I need to keep it at etc. And what do I use, software wise to monitor, of which I haev Fuzzy Logic from my MSI board
MSI's fuzzy logic lets you adjust the fsb speed on-the-fly from windows. If the machine doesn't work at a higher fsb, all you need to do is reset the bios & start over.
The other way of overclocking is changing the cpu's multiplier, just do a search on google for how to accomplish that. There's also a new device out now that takes all the fun out of manually onlocking the multiplier:
Unlocking the multiplier is a more involved process with greater risk of damaging the cpu, but the rewards are so much better than the piddly-beans you get with fsb tweaking.
