I have a AMD K62 system running a 550Mhz system, 128 mb NVRAM, 17 GB HDD, and PC100 motherboard. Currently its a bookshelf as it won't boot up. I think I remember a quick error flashing on screen and PC shut down. Since then when trying to boot I hit the power button, lights come on HDD clicks 3 or 4 times then nothing. No signal goes to monitor. I have switched memory, HDD, HDD controller, power cable, and video card. Board has integrated everything, including modem and NIC. I HAD it multibooted with Win98SE and W2k Pro and W2K Advanced server. I can't get anything out of system. Thinking I need to switch processor or power supply. Oh yeah, I have tried to clear the NVRAM also. Anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks in advance [sig][/sig]

Generally will be either power good signal missing or a memory error during early post. But there a multitude of hardware problems that can cause the same symtoms.
What diagnostic tools do you have available? Multimeter? Logic probe?
What you need is to find out if the processor is clocking to get an idea where the porblem lies.
You have hit on probably the hardest problem to diagnose remotely. [sig]
Ed Fair
efair@atlnet.com

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.
Good News,
After reading your reply I went back to work, removed processor and cleaned it up, it was a little dusty. Put processor back in, turned it on and it booted!!!

It gave me a low CMOS battery warning and had to reset my BIOS, but I can live with buying a new CMOS battery if I need to.

Thanks for the help. [sig][/sig]
