Alternatives for Single Sign-On in N-Tier J2EE env?

One option is to use Oracle Login Server, which requires 9iAS, which itself requires Oracle HTTP Server. I think this solution also requires Oracle Internet Directory. Some customers really hate being forced to buy 100% of the solution from a single vendor, like Oracle, because it does nothing to support all their other non-Oracle databases.

What non-Oracle products are available to support single signon in a N-tier J2EE environment?
