Recently had to reload a CPPM SigServer as on further investigation no access to the NRSDatabase was possible - After reload access is now possible but it's still, and loooks as if its never been able to sync up with the Primary 'Leader' NRSDatabse.

We feel and dare I say it, we are convinced it's the customers IPnetwork over the TLAN retricting this as I believe the sync process uses FTP. To back this up we've no issues over the ELAN and can use FTP to the Call Server

I was wondering if you had some thoughts on this, before I arm myself and go back to the Client's Network Guys ?

Cheers!!

I believe you are correct in that the Leader sends the updates via FTP over the T-LAN interface.

Does the customer have any failsafe sites? If so, check the reports in the NRS interface to see when or if they were last updated.

The only other time I have seen this was when the Alternate NRS was running a higher software release than the Primary NRS. Remember, the Primary NRS must be running same release as the highest release in the enterprise.

Hi allenmac, thanks for the reassurance on the FTP over TLAN

as mentioned the 'Report' within the NRS Interface before the decision to reload on the CPPM SigSvr (another office) suggested there was a sync issue, but we are pretty sure when the FTP issue is sorted on the TLAN it will now sync and have highlighted this back to the customer already

Primary NRS on the 'Leader' is running the same release 5.50J the only difference is that they are COT HP Servers (Main Site) whereas the Alternate NRS 'Leader'(another Node ID)another office is CPPM

Cheers!!

The particular hardware platform of the sig servers does not matter - they will all talk amongst each other.

Has the customer confessed to blocking FTP on the T-LAN, or any other firewall rules that would block access?

Hi Allenmac, still waiting for their feedback an will post the outcome

Cheers Again !!

Just to advise/update

Network chaps are saying there is no restrictions/filtering/firewall on the TLAN that could cause NRS SyncUp for 'FailSafe' problems...Yep no surprises there then.

So I was wondering as a test to prove, by disconnecting at the Remote CPPM SigSvr the TLAN from the customers Network, connect that into a HUB then connect my LapTop using their static TLAN IPAddress and carry out pinging, browsing to see what happens....Any thoughts, as obviously need to schedule this if they agree as being service effecting ?

Cheers!!

See if you can telnet to port 21 of one of the remote sig servers when you have your laptop connected to the hub.

port 21 is the FTP port, and if it is blocked, you will not be able to make a connection.

OK allenmac, nice suggestion, as port 20 & 21 use FTP
still waiting though a bit frustrating

Cheers!!
