Howdy!

I am wasting tones of paper with this and can't find the hot keys to use to capture my active window.

I am using Alt-PrtScreen to capture active screen to paste on my favorite image editor and do my thing with it. The problem is that a copy is printed as well - Not good!

What must I do to capture the snapshot of the screen without printing the copy to my printer?

Thank you all in advance.

What is your image editor?
I find that just pasting it in Word or Word Perfect (the latter if I want to edit it) usually works.

For more control I use ThumbsPlus (

I use InfanView. I have learned how to use it and after trying numerous others, I like this one.

I can paste just fine, my problem is stopping that page from printing every time I ALT-PrtScr to capture the active window. Any idea on how to do that?

Thanks;

It is strange that it is printing. What application are you trying to grab? It sounds to me like the program may have a hot key to print.

Try this as a test. Close all programs and then open up IE to your homepage.

Do the Alt-PrintScreen and see if it still spits out paper. If it doesn;t then you know it is a hot key for the application you are trying to capture.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

It goes to show you ... that was exactly the problem. I was using a telnet client to connect to my unix box and capture screen shots of my unix based application.

I installed a different telnet client and ALT-PRTSCR no longer prints. I should have asked the question a realm of paper or two ago ;-)

Thanks ver much - The rain forest owes you.
