I am doing an expiry date sort - this part works out just fine - the list is sorted into dates. How do I get the list into alphabetical order inside the dates sort?
Is this a query or a report?
A Query, by sort select ascending under the field you want alphabitized.
A report, add the field to the sorting and grouping.
glo4 - Yes, I can get it to work the way you say but only for ONE field. It will not let me sort (alphabetically) within another sort (numeric date).
I do this sort of thing all the time in Access as well as Crystal Reports. Make sure the Expiry date is the leftmost field in your QBE grid and that the field you are trying to alphabitize is just to the right of Expiry date. make sure both fields say ascending in them then look at the data.
expiry date name
1/1/00 susie
1/1/00 tom
1/2/00 andy
1/2/00 sally
is the look you will get
it sorts by date then name
if you want to see
expiry date name
1/1/00 andy
1/1/00 sally
1/2/00 suzie
1/2/00 Tom
it aint goin happen without 2 seperate queries
good luck hope this is what you had in mind
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. YOU ARE A GENIOUS!!!!
Who would have thought that the order they are listed in the db would do it (not me)

GLO4 IS A GENIOUS
