Allowing access to port

I am setting up a Blackberry Enterprise server for use with GroupWise.
I have upgraded to GW 6.5.4 and I have BorderManager 3.5.

I need to allow access to port 3101 on the server. I'm not really sure how this works.

I assume I need to use FILTCFG to set up one or two filter exceptions, but I am not sure of the settings I need. There doesn't seem to be anything about BorderManager on the Blackberry website.

I hope someone can help me with some Mickey Mouse instructions.

Get the instructions on how to build a filter excpetion for almost any service and just replace source and destination ports.

For your enviroment, I am assuming the BB server is LISTENING on port 3101. By default I would build two filter excpetions for this. First would be:

Filter 1

Source NIC Private
Destination NIC Any
Protocol [well, you didn't say what protocol]
Source port 3101
Destination port 1024-65535
Source IP {Private IP address of BB server}
Destination IP ANY


Filter 2

Source NIC Any
Destination NIC Any
Protocol [nope, still don't see one in your post]
Source port 1024-65535
Destination Port 3101
Srouce IP ANY
Destination IP {Private IP address of BB server}

Now this should work for you, but you will want to double check your ports to ensure you have all of them. Some applications use a data port and a control port, some applications will send and receive on the same port {normally apps will open a random port between 1024 and 65535 but the listener will always use the same port}.

Protocol is TCP.

I have tried this, but I think I must have something else wrong on my BB server because its still not connecting.

I'm going to have to have a BB engineer dial in and have a look.
