Hello,
We are running Netbackup 5.1 MP2 and we are running into restore problems from certain backups - we are getting an allocation failed, status 10. The problem seems to happen for restores of many files at a time (around 8000000 - which doesn't seem like that many). To work around this problem, we have to split the restore into several chunks.
Based on some information from Veritas support, we bumped up shmmax (shared memory max kernel parameter on HP-UX) to a little bit more than 4 gigs (we have 6 gigs or physical RAM). Veritas told us that we basically have to add more memory and bump up the the shmmax kernel parameter. However, I'm sometimes a little leary of Veritas's advice. Has anyone run into this problem and, if so, was adding RAM the solution or is there something else that we should look at?
Thanks,
Mark
