I have a pc sales/service business and cannot figure this one customers pair of PCs out. He has two totally different systems that both do the same silly thing. I took one of them to my office. The problem was already there on the old load of win98 and after doing a total reload onto a new hard drive. I still have the same problem. The only thing I installed was w98, no drivers except for the modem, which I changed to ensure the old modem disk did not have a virus. **Here is the problem** - 1. All text web links appear 'visited' (purple) *and* 2. when I go to hotmail, login and click on a new message (which also appears as 'read'), I get an IPF in shdocvw.dll. Keep in mind this is after a total reload of w98 and this is happening on two totally different sytems. I even tried a different w98 CD. The one I am working on has a FIC Motherboard V601, an ATI AGP Rage Pro IIC video, SB PCI 128 sound, HP 9300 CDR. No drivers for these have been installed yet. I reflashed the CMOS from a boot floppy to ensure it was OK. I have no idea what could cause this. Help me, please help, I'm dying over here.
