All text is now gibberish. 1

Upon updating Macafee Dat on XP pro and reboot ALL text is now gibberish (symols).

The regional language setting is unchanged, and a virus scan reveals nothing.

Has anyone seen this before? If so How can i fix?

if you dont have a recent system restore point to revert back to, then maybe try to do a full mcafee uninstall (if you have the installer still) and reboot to see if it helps.

If not, try looking in the event viewer to see if the text in there is still readable - it may give a clue as to whats wrong.

lastly, go ahead and run a chkdsk (check for errors) to see if there are any filesystem errors.

Are you running McAfee's QuickClean lite? This has been known to cause Font problems in XP too.

Thank you for remembering those threads linney! This fixed the problem.

Now if I can only figure out what nuked the font file/registries....
