TO ALL:
I have this setup in DNS:

web.domain.com host 216.x.x.16
name.domain.com alias web.domain.com

In IIS 5.0 default website I have this redirection:

iistart.asp = *
The will prompt you with a a logon

There is no problem if users are typing:

However, if they type

They are also prompted with a logon but after logging on you are prompted again and only after logging on twice were you able to successfully login!

Any help would be appreciated to eliminate this annoying second login!

Instead of using an alias, make the record a host record.

Perhaps it's because when you access name.domain.com, this information is stored in the HTTP header, and when you do the redirect (looks like you're doing Response.Redirect?), the original header is still the same, prompting you a second time.

Make sense at all?
