Alerts Not Working

I've set up some alerts using the alerts wizard to send me an email when tapes are need or for device errors. The tests seems to work nicely but when the actual event occurs no alert gets sent. I've even activated the SNMP option and that did not work either. Any clues?

Have you got any virus scan software installed? i.e. McAfee
