I have an app written in Clipper and at times when I display a modal dialog box with the Alert function, you cannot get the box to go away when pressing enter and moving the arrow keys moves the entire box up and down instead of going to the ok, cancel keys. You have to close the app with task manager and then sometimes reboot the computer. Then it may work fine for days. I believe it happens only on Windows 2000 not Win98.

Any ideas?

Dan

That sounds like what happens if you hit the Scroll Lock key in an alert box or window. If this is the case then Escape should get you out. Why it's doing it in the first place I have no idea.

You are right. I can duplicate it if I press the scroll lock key. Then I have to press the scroll lock key a second time, press escape and then I can press enter and get rid of the box.
Is there a function in Clipper or Clipper tools to turn off the scroll lock? I do not know why it is going on in the first place.

Thanks,
Dan

I found a function in Clipper tools called KSetScroll
ksetscroll(.F.) turns off the scroll lock.
That did the trick. I am now wondering if something is happening was happening with the keyboard or a problem with Windows 2000 since it was so intermittent.

Thanks for the help!

You could try WSetMove(.F.) if you are using CA Tools.

I am using W2K more and more and have not come across your problem before.

The one that I used to get was on 95/98 where you hit the Windows key and then escape and it's left as if the key was still held down, every time you hit E you got Explorer. That drove me mad but seems OK in W2K and XP.
