Alert Box Text Formatting

I want to format the text in an alert box, is this possible?
Calling string functions on the text does not work(it displays the HTML). Any ideas?

you can insert line breaks using \n:

alert("line 1\nline 2\nline 3"); Tony
reddot.gif WIDTH=400 HEIGHT=2 VSPACE=3

I was think more like bolding and highlighting text withing the message. I know about the line breaks but what I want to do is emphasize a certain part of my alert...
