Hey -

Is anyone doing AIX (5.3) with NetApp?

If so, are you mounting NFS filesystems or do you use SAN?

We're an ESS SAN shop, but NetApp has some nice, price-competitive, technologies out there and I might have a need for NFS. I'm a little concerned over using NAS and NFS for an Oracle DB.

Thoughts?

Everyone using an IBM N-series NAS box (on AIX or other servers) is using a NetApp, it is OEMed by NetApp for IBM.

We're not using it on AIX though.

Yep...I just want to know if anyone is actually doing it with AIX.

What do you use?

I have deployed Netapp iScsi with AIX, works like a charm.Fibrechannel works nice as well ,with Sanpath mpio for failover. Many customers run Oracle over NFS on Netapp as well, no complaints about performance.
Benefit of Netapp over N-Series, is the support you are getting.

Used to be IBM ESS, now IBM DS8k and other vendors' SAN servers, not using NAS on AIX.
