AIX permissions and using sudo

We use sudo for root access. This is done so user activity can be logged. The AIX client installs have been performed using a standard user to login with but then using sudo to get root permissions. Is this an acceptable thing to do? What account does NetBackup run under? Does it have to be installed under root?

A second question is regarding the Java backup/restore screen. How can sudo be used with that to backup or restore files?

Netbackup 5.1 MP1 (medias and master)
Windows 2003 Master w/ 160GB Image Database
2 Windows 2003 Media servers
2 AIX 5.2 Media servers
Adic Scalar i2000 library with 18 LTO2 Fibre drives.

Okay, I broke down and contacted support on this issue. Here is what they said...

1) Although many customers have reported success launching NetBackup CLI, VERITAS does not officially support the use of sudo with NetBackup product. In NetBackup installation guides, we specify root user to execute the NetBackup installation process.

2) An non-root user can administrate NetBackup administrator operations such as backup and restore as a root user by configuration non-root user administration. Please implement the following procedures:
