Files that I have printed fine in the past are now giving me trouble. When I print in draft quality the whole file prints fine, but when I up the quality to normal or high, only part of the file will print before the paper is ejected. I tried changing my scratch disk to one w/ more memory available, the printer defaults seems fine, and the files still will not print out. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi Nodie,

what printer do u have? I only ask this because i have exactly the same problem with illustrator, and more recently with photoshop as well!

I have an epson stylus colour 640 so not sure if its something to do with that?

The way i tend to get around this is not use the auto sheet feeder, rather feed the paper manually before sending the document to the printer. Doing this, the whole page usually prints, rather than just the first quarter. The only trouble is with multi-page prints the consecutive sheets are loaded from the autosheet feeder and mess up again!

I still havent found a proper solution to this problem. Nick (Web Designer)

Hi Nick!

I'm using a very simple Lexmark Z52 inkjet printer. Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one w/ this problem. If I get any good suggestions on how to fix this, I'll post it.

Try rasterizing the image as a 300 dpi .tif then printing it. Your printer can handle more than that but there is really no need unless its a photograph. It has to do with the way your printer spools data the way windows prints. You might play with different resolutions until you find out exactly what is too much for your printer. Also, your scratch disk should have at least 200 megs free and make sure you restart AI after you change scratch disks. BEHOLD! As Steve Jobs introduces us the latest in desk-lamp technology!
