Can someone explain to me in english why on my MultiVantage 11 I have to include the Login-id in the Name field when creating the Agent on the Add Loginid Form: example < 5353 James Smith >. I know that there is a feature you must ask Avaya to turn on that will allow you to simply put the name in without the ID in front of it so please explain the difference and why. Thank you all in advance for the help.

It may be your voicemail system that is requiring you to do that. Otherwise, there is no reason why you would need to put the login id in the name. I have programmed numerous call centers without ever having put the agent id in the name field, but those systems had Intuity or Audix voicemail as well.

Sorry I should have mentioned that I have an 'uhg' Octel VM System.

There are two ways to network the OCtel to a G3. One way is with ND phones (no display). This requires you to put the agentid/extension within the first 15 digit of the name field. They could be any where in there:

ex: Doe, Jane 1234
Doe, J 1234
1234 Doe, Jane

The other way of connectivity is using a D (display) set. If you setup your Octel to use then you will not have to put the extension/agentid at all.

Also read up on the "alias" field in the Octel manual.

That should get you going.

Is this something I can set upmyself or do I have to ask the vendor to do it, sorry for asking rather looking it up in the docs?
