I've got XP Pro which I use on a home network which is not always up....by choice. I tried to create a restore point sometime after the install and it hangs. And every Restore Point I created is not attainable either.

Please help

I tried turning it off and then on again. When attempting to turn it on again I got this message:
System Restore encountered an error trying to enable/disable one or more drives. Please restart your machine and try again.

I do have an additional external HD which never posed any problems till now.

I tried this a couple times with no luck.

Any thoughts?

thanks

Download stinger:
Then restart the system in Safe mode by hitting F8 at boot and selecting it from the menu. Logon as administrator. Start/run services.msc, locate the System Restore service in the list and "stop" it.

Run stinger that you previously downloaded. Locate the "System Volume Information" folder on each drive on the system and delete it (or at least empty the contents of it). Restart normally.

Rerun services.msc and restart the System Restore service.
