Hi!

I've had a systemcrash. After that all files on a volume are unvisible. But when I clic with right button on the drive-icon it shows that the drive is still full with data.

My first attempt was to turn on the settings in the explorer to show everything including system folders and so on...

HELP!

Is the disk formatted as NTFS and you can't access it because of security?
Did you reinstall the system after the crash or not?

Hi jrbarnett!

Yes I've reinstalled my system after the crash. Security problems couldn't be because I work as the Administrator on the system ;-)

Follow the following instructions:

Logon as administrator
Open my computer and Right click on the partition you are unable to access
choose Properties, security tab and take ownership.
Let the properties run through the entire partition.

You should now be able to access the data.

This problem occurred because the internal Windows 2000 Security ID's have changed when you reinstalled the system, and it it these - not usernames that determine access rights. The same solution and problem would work on NT4 and XP Pro as well.
