After adding user in SQL Security Manager now cant regist trusted conn

when I added a group of users via SQL Security Manager, I got errors stating invalid character in the name? After which I could not register SQL Server on my local machine any longer as a trusted connection. Nothing else changed.
I even removed this group and still have the same problem.
Please help.
