We have a win2k web server colocated at a hosting facility and lan-based win2k servers and workstations here. I am wondering if I can set up vpn so that the remote server acts as a seamless and relatively static/permanent member of our lan so I can map drives, ping it by hostname, get sql data over port 1433, etc? Is this within the scope of possibility? I have only ever set up vpn briefly to solve specific problems, but never to the level I am currently being requested to make it work. Any limitations, gotchas, concerns, or advice to get me started? I'm a little worried, because it seems like all the docs I find have more to do with being a remote user trying to vpn into the intranet, but I need to go completely backwards.

I think I'll post this in the win2k forum too
