Good morning,
In the company that I work for, we are having an internal discussion about update our systems to ACM 5 or not.
Since our maintenance contract is going to expire in 3 months time and after reading opinions in different tech-groups we can not make a clear decision.
If we move to ACM 5 we can be sure than if any bug appears, Avaya is going to create a patch and solve the problem, if we stay at ACM 3, Avaya is not going to create any patch, but I think the last software load for ACM 3 and all services packs are stable enough to running the machine at least for the new two years.
Since we don’t need any of the “new” ACM 5 features, I am happy to stay in version 3 and don’t waste money in ACM 5 software support.
Also I was reading about ACM 4 which didn’t ask me to buy the software support thing and allows me to extend the support period without buying ACM 5, but seems to me that Avaya just stop to develop patches in order to made everyone to move to ACM 5.
After the long introduction, I have some (few) questions:
1.- is ACM 5 a stable release? Or is just a ACM 4 bug fix release that got a lot of problems from ACM 4?
2.- is ACM 4 as bad as it looks for the amount of patches and service packs published?
I am convinced to stay in ACM 3 even if Avaya didn’t provide any new patch; I am not buying to pay for Software Support, it is enough to debug Avaya software every day and this is why I am asking for your help, maybe I am to blind to see the advantages to move to ACM 4 or ACM 5.
Thanks in advance
