hey me again.
Time for my quarterly hardware wrestling match...
So, Since I last asked, I migrated the Exchange stores to their own SCSI controller and disk array. It is 14 drives at 15Krpm in a RAID1+0 with 2 hot spares.
I my user base is around 50 still. We have no size limitations on mailboxes or attachments. I know, I know, but we are paid to bring solutions and workplace transparency. We are a service oriented occupation. They demand, we supply..
Anyway, My users are almost exclusively Macintosh using the most current Entourage client and Blackberry handhelds.
I am seeing some seemingly high numbers in DAV Subscriptions and Client Logons. These, I think, are bringing my RPC latency up into the 70 to 100 range. I am also seeing, again, my Avg. Disk Queue length shooting to the 100-200 range, the Avg Disk sec/Read and Write coming into the .1 and .08, respectively. I notice these numbers start running askew when the Disk WRite Bytes/sec cme up over... say, 15-20MB/sec.
It does recover, but as each day passes, it is spending more and more time in the taxed range.
As far as MS and most reputable guesses are concerned my HW configuration should support 3,000 users with 500MB mailboxes.
Am I missing something in the troubleshooting? HW FW is up to date, OS and Apps are up to date. DB, BIN, and logs are all on seperate arrays and controllers....
