Advanced Server 7.3 - on Alpha - Clients are W2K

We have advanced server V7.3 on our Alpha's, the windows clients run w2k. We have a local domain that the clients log on to. Since installing W2K security patches we cannot get a new PC to join the domain. The RPC fails. In fact any
function on the PC that does an RPC to the Alpha fails.
If we uninstall patch KB828741 we can get the new PC to join the domain. We can reinstall the patch after joining the domain and the PC can login to the domain normally.
Does anybody know how to fix this annoying problem?
