SQL 7.0 SP1.

On my two nodes (active/passive) Cluster the spin counter advanced option has been set to 10000 by the system administrator that did the installation.
Can anybody say if that parameter is correct? I think it has to be 0(zero).

If I try to change this value from 10000 to 0 I found that the run value becomes 1.
Is it correct to change this value from 10000 to 0 when I have 2 nodes cluster active/passive (single processor for any machine)? Why this parameter turn to 1 when I want it to be 0? Thank you.

The default for Spin Counter on a multi-processor server is 10000. According to BOL it wil be 0 for a single-processor server because there will be no contention when attempting to obtain a resource. We've never changed the Spin Counter from 10000 on our multi-processor machines.

Is your server sinlge- or multi-processor? If single, I don't know why you can't change it to 0. If multi, why do you want to change the option? Are experiencing a problem? Terry Broadbent
