ADSL & 56k on one line ? 1

I am thinking of having ADSL installed (i am in UK)

Because i share my house with other computer users i have to consider others.....

Can 56k modems be used on the line with ADSL on it?? I know you can use the phone and ADSL (always on) at the same time.
